Editorial Portrait

I’ve decided to change my first idea and not follow the inspiration pictures that I posted before. I did not found that it was great on this location, more fade and not that interesting to do. I decided to explore the portrait with the flash under the bridge and do something more interesting and more challenging, with much more contrasts.

1-     Available light as fill

2-     I used a long lens for the compression of it

3-     I shot at f/8, sharp enough for the portrait and the back ground a little bit out of focus (i put it more out of focus after in Photoshop)

4-     The shutter speed were at 1/160 of a sec. No need faster ...

5-     The available light was a little bit too dark at my opinion because of the temperature, but that was fine.

6-     If I had to do it again, I will put a little kicker on the hair of the model to give more separation from the background.

7-     Not too much light.....

8-     We had some technical problems with the flashes from school : optical thing were not working well and the flash were changing his power by itself : we put it at the maximum and without changing anything, sometimes were blasting the subject or sometimes were not making a difference at all.... that why I am using only my own flash.

9-     Color balance was not an issue, corrected with my grey card and I am satisfied with it.

10-  Need another flash (that work) and a cable for my flash in case the infrared do not see it when it’s really sunny or if the camera is in front of it.

If I had to do it again, I will give more attention on the subject for the poses and bring more reflectors.
